Whiteblisters On Throat

The innkeepers of Murcia started a campaign to prevent noise produced by night nightlife spots

The first issue of this year Notices of the American Mathematical Society , the most widely read magazine by the mathematical community, is dedicated full to find the beauty in mathematics. The article that interests me is the third name: Music: Broken Symmetry, Geometry, and Complexity . Here we can see how the researchers used a mathematical function called "Gabor transforms" to analyze and generate sound spectrograms, graphs depicting the signal variations over time.

The technique allows, for example, Louis Armstrong's voice sounds like his trumpet. And indeed, in discussing his interpretation of La Vie en Rose, separate spectrograms of song and sound of the trumpet reflect the vibrations and the high points are similar.
